\u4ee3\u8868\u6350\u8d08\u4eba\u81f4\u8a5e\u7684\u5433\u7d39\u9e9f\uff0c\u662f\u674e\u5433\u9e97\u82f1\u4f84\u8f29\u89aa\u5c6c\uff0c\u4e5f\u662f\u6cd5\u9f13\u5b78\u6821\u8ca1\u5718\u6cd5\u4eba\u8463\u4e8b\uff0c\u4ed6\u9996\u5148\u8f49\u9054\u9ad8\u9f61\u4e5d\u5341\u7684\u674e\u5bb6\u6636\u83e9\u85a9\u5c0d\u6cd5\u9f13\u5927\u5b78\u7684\u795d\u798f\uff0c\u4e26\u5206\u4eab\u674e\u5433\u9e97\u82f1\u5973\u58eb\u70ba\u4eba\u7c21\u6a38\u3001\u5584\u826f\uff0c\u52a9\u4eba\u4e0d\u6b32\u4eba\u77e5\uff0c\u6df1\u4fe1\u300c\u6709\u6368\u4fbf\u6709\u5f97\u300d\u7684\u5e03\u65bd\u7f8e\u5fb7\u3002\u674e\u5433\u9e97\u82f1\u5973\u58eb\u5728\u907a\u56d1\u4e2d\uff0c\u4e00\u4e00\u5c0d\u5e6b\u52a9\u5979\u7684\u4eba\u81f4\u4e0a\u611f\u6069\u8207\u795d\u798f\uff0c\u81e8\u7d42\u6642\u66f4\u6bb7\u5207\u56d1\u5490\u5c07\u5176\u8ca1\u7522\u8d08\u4e88\u6559\u80b2\u55ae\u4f4d\uff0c\u5229\u76ca\u793e\u6703\u3002

Chan Mind of Joyful Delight

Enlightening Texts to Inspire Insight

In order to promote the fund-raising project \u201cA Great Vow to Establish Dharma Drum University,\u201d Master Sheng Yen, founder of Dharma Drum Mountain, organized \u201cFree Mind and Chan Delight: Exhibition of Calligraphy by Master Sheng Yen\u201d in February, 2007. Part of the donated money was then used to construct the residential hall \u201cChanyue (Joy of Chan) Hall.\u201d

In recognition of Master Sheng Yen\u2019s endeavors to foster education, Mr. Richard K.C. Lee from Hong Kong donated NT$187 million in June 2007 to support the construction of Dharma Drum University\u2019s infrastructural and educational framework, in accordance with his wife Linda Wu Lee Ying\u2019s will. In honor of the merit and in memory of her great vow, the University named the residential hall\u2019s library the \u201cLee Ying Library,\u201d for the students to immerse themselves in enlightening texts and engage in the college experience to inspire insight.

Chan master Hongzhi Zhengjue (1091-1157) wrote a verse that reads: \u201cDharma delight as nourishment, compassion as shelter.\u201d Master Sheng Yen opened a door to the \u201cjoy of Chan and delight of Dharma,\u201d and his successors will create ways to compassion. Chanyue Hall and the Lee Ying Library will serve as examples to illustrate the spirit of Dharma Drum Mountain\u2019s extensive academic education: compassion, wisdom, harmony, and respect.
